This style of bracelet is adopted from the "Rangkai" jewelry of the Balinese (rangkai meaning "to put together") used in traditional, ceremonial outfitting. I've also recognized them in assorted cultures from the Himalayas to the Sahara and throughout many different eras of the past leading up to today's "slave bracelets" and "hand flowers" of the western world's pop-culture.
